In certain way Calahonda - that this is the name historically of the area neighboring between the coast of Mijas and that of Marbella - can turn like a very specific topic, without comparison. It more emphasized from that farm it was the House - fortress of Calahonda

That House - fortress dates of the same epoch as the towers - watchtowers that mark milestones on the whole of Malaga coast. If the towers were them points where from notice was given to the invasions population Moriscos or pirates' incursions Berbers - day the warning was giving the smoke and at night it was giving the light of the fire - the House - fortress was a refuge with walls of impressive thickness and with 'loopholes', gaps from which it was possible to shoot. The wide walls were protecting also of all the inclemencies of the time and inside the House - fortress food was prepared, preparing of a place to store them. On the other hand, to be able to watch the coast without to be seen, the building was "camouflaged" between the vegetation with a painting ocher in the top part, although the low part was supporting the tradition of whiteness of all the Andalusian Towns.

That House - fortress, the place that today corresponds to The Belfry, was the emblematic construction that presided at the development of the Place of Calahonda.
