The origin of the district of Zeneta is clearly Arabic. Following Serafín Alonso it is possible to date about the IXth century the existence of a fortification in a hillock placed in an area known as tabala, where later (XIIth century) there itself would construct the castle of tabala, located along with one Moslem cemetery, which fulfilled an important defensive function and of watchtower of the territory, since it was the reference opposite to castles of Monteagudo, The Castellar and Larache, placed to other side of the vale.
