| After the civil war the General Address of Desolated Areas had to reconstruct the town almost completely. After a short period in that it was famous for their sanatoriums antituberculosos, Guadarrama has become a tourist important town and in the second residence of many inhabitants from Madrid. | It was founded by the Arabs that Uad-er-ramel denominated to the river that gives name to the town and the mountain in that this he/she is located. Guadarrama obtained the title of village of Fernando V of Castile (II of Aragon) November 22 of 1504.
