The Park Güell (in Catalan Parc Güell, although their original name is Park Güell) is a great garden with architectural elements located in the superior part of Barcelona (Spain), in the slope that looks to the sea of the mountain at Turó of Carmel, not very far from Tibidabo. It was designed by the architect Antonio GaudÃ, maximum exponent of the Catalan modernism, built among the years 1900 and 1914 and inaugurated as public park in 1926. He/she has an extension of 17,18 hectares (0,1718 square kilometers). In the design of the park he/she shows clearly the hand of an architect, and the peculiar style of Gaudà is evident in any element, for small that is. Wavy forms exist, similar to the rivers of lava, and walks covered with columns that have forms of trees or of stalactites. Many of the surfaces are covered with ceramic pieces or of glass by way of mosaics of colors. For their localization to the margin of the city and a high altitude, this park is an eddy of peace that contrasts with the noise and frenzy of the Catalan capital.
