In the XIX century the segregation of Santa Magdalena of Pulpis and the population's great growth that it passed of the 800 neighbors took place (some 3.200 inhabitants) in times of Cavanilles, at the end of the XVIII century, to those more than 6.000 inhabitants of 1900. The XIX century gave leaders to the Carlist cause, (from among which highlights in the third war, Pascual Cucala) reason for which was difficultly repressed the village, after the liberal victory.
