Villanueva and Geltrú (in Catalan and officially: Vilanova i Geltrú) it is a municipality of the county of Barcelona, Catalonia (Spain) located 45 km of Barcelona and 40 km of Tarragona. To weigh that the name in Castilian is Villanueva and Geltrú it is commonly known as "Vilanova i Geltrú" or simply "Vilanova" among the community Castilian speaker of Catalonia.By the middle of the XVIII century, when the king Carlos III allowed that Vilanova traded with America, the city lives an economic very important effervescence.
