The Valley of Ambroz is a district located in the north of the county of Cáceres, in the last estribaciones of Sierra of Gredos. With a population of 8.219 inhabitants and a surface of 235 km2 the Union of Municipalities is formed by eight towns: Abbey, Aldeanueva of the Road, Bathrooms of Montemayor, Houses of the Mount, The Throat, Necklace, Hervás and Sure of Bull.
Located in the heart of the Mountains of the North of Extremadura, flanked by the Valley from Jerte to the east, Hurdes and Granadilla to the west, Plasencia to the South and Sierra of Béjar to the North, it is crossed by the highway N-630 (Gijón-Seville) or Route of the Silver.
Historically The Valley of Ambroz has been in passing place. They attest this way it the remains of the Roman roadway of the Road of the Silver, or the Real Soriana-western Narrow canyons and Vizana that are still used by the migrating cattlemen. These roads have left their impronta in the opened character and welcoming of the inhabitants of Ambroz.
Their privileged situation transforms it into a true vergel of the nature, with a special microclimate that provides soft winters and fresh summers. In 30 kilometers he/she hardly spends from superior heights to 2100 m that shelter of the cold winds of the north and with snow great part of the year, until 400 m. where the meadow shows its splendor. We can say that it is a small flask where they meet all the essences, a book of samples of diverse ecosystems of great wealth. Reference places:
