Santa María's fou fundat l'any priorat 1053 per Silvi Llobet, senyor of Cervià, boss the rule of Sant Benet. L'església is he/she goes to dedicate to Verge María, to l'arcàngel Sant Miquel, to Sant Pere i Sant Pau. Two anys més tard the monestir passà to dependre of that of Sant Miquel of Clusa, in Itàlia.
