Tolosa is a town of the historical territory of Guipúzcoa in Basque country (Spain). Located in the valley of the river Oria, he/she has a population of 17.829 inhabitants (01-01 -2005). It has companies of industrial wide spectrum, but with majority of the sector of construction of paper machines and complements. It is also endowed with services of health, bank, commercial, official and tribunals.In Tolosa, the river Oria receives its flowing Araxes and Verástegui.Tolosa inherited its name of the French city of Toulouse whose Latin name and occitano are in fact that of Tolosa. The village of Tolosa was founded in 1256 by the Castilian king Alfonso X the Sage that already baptized to the new village with the name of another town according to the habit of the time existent and with a notorious prestige, like it was the case of the French city. Besides Tolosa guipuzcoana and of the French original, a Tolosa exists in Portugal.
