After the defeat of the army invader of the Castilians in the Primera Battle of Acentejo, of where the name of the neighboring town of The Slaughter of Acentejo proceeds and due to an epidemic, provoked by the cadavers of the combatants left to the bleakness in this battle and mainly in the Battle of Aguere that decimated the aboriginal population gravely and he/she left without forces to the survivors, well-known situation as the great heaviness, early Alonso Fernández of Lugo defeated to the guanches in the Segunda Battle of Acentejo and in reference to this victory the Castilians gave name to this place.
