Arona is a municipality canary belonging to the county of Santa Cruz from Tenerife. It is located in the south of the island of Tenerife.On the origin of the municipality of Arona there are few data and those that there is are dispersed. They refer almost exclusively to the traditional existence of some establishments after the conquest. He/she saw and Clavijo, speaks to us of this nucleus of Arona, together with those of the Valley and End Blanco, when referring to Chasna for another name Vilaflor.San Antonio's Abbot hermitage was built apparently by the son of Antón DomÃnguez the Old one, in the XVII century, to be its housing far from Vilaflor. The hermitage was erected in parish by car of separation of March of 1796, 30 separating the main church of Vilaflor.However, in spite of these modest principles, the municipality has known in the last years a spectacular growth. The Christian, by the middle of last century, it was not more than a fishing small port and a quarry; today is important point in the reception of the tourism.
