On 1390, current Candlemas was a solitary place and desértico that the shepherds guanches of the menceyato of Güimar frequented. One afternoon, two natural that drove their livestock, they saw as some goats they refused to pass when arriving to the mouth of the ravine, one was ahead of them thinking that there were people that wanted to steal them and he/she found, on a rock, the Santa Image.With this legend, it begins the fervor and adoration from the islanders to Candlemas' Virgin. Fervor that August fifteen become a monumental pilgrimage that conforms to from all the points of the island of Tenerife until arriving at Candlemas' Basilica, where he/she waits to the rosemaries, the Employer of Canaries.
