During the XVI and XVII centuries, Petra was a town of them but high of Majorca as for the number of inhabitants and to the agricultural production, mainly in the cereals, although there were long seasons of epidemics and of sequeras that diminished the population and the crops. It is in this period that you/they are carried out the works of the two buildings but outstanding of the town, the parochial church and the convent of Sant Bernardí.
The town of Ariany belonged to the municipality of Petra until in the year 1982 became independent. Foto:Steffen Löwe
