Mayan (Amaiur in Basque) is a place of the Statutory Community of Navarrese (Spain), located in the valley of Baztán in Merindad of Pamplona 65 kilometers of Pamplona.
Already in the XII century he/she appears with the name of Amaiur, like one of the "holdings" or nobiliary districts of the Kingdom of Navarrese.

It was village in 1665 when it was segregated of Baztán until their new aggregation to the same one in 1969.

In the high of their mount Gaztelu, was the Castle of Mayan where one of the last resistances took place from the Navarrese to the Conquest of Navarrese. In the place of the castle there is a monolíto in memory to these. In July of 2007 it was also inaugurated the Monument to the Resistant one Unknown, impelled by the city council of the valley that is in the town, to the foot of the mount. Jorab
