During the Half Age, the wars of Navarrese with Castile made that Bargota lost its condition of independent municipality. In 1219, with the objective of strengthening the frontier with the Kingdom of Navarrese, Sancho VII "the Strong" one added Viana all the near towns to her, among them Bargota was. The only ones that didn't complete the Real Order were the municipalities of Bargota and Altars. Throughout the years, the town requested in several occasions its administrative and ecclesiastical emancipation of Viana, but this refused relying on the historical derived right of the disposition of Sancho VII the Strong one. Bargota was not able to breakaway of Viana up to 1818, year into that he/she transformed again in independent municipality. Cornava
