One of the first towns leoneses, been founded in the year 783 around a called monastery Santa Eulalia.
It is also dated that were hidden in the monastery, Santiago's Apostle relics. In the year 918 the monastery even existed, because the King Ordoño II make donation to the bishop Fruminio II and to the church of León of the mentioned monastery.
He/she understands each other that in that date the mentioned population nucleus already existed, with probability the valley was populated from the prehistory. The place in which is supposed the monastery was, it is in the vicinities of Mr. Santiago's Vallina, to the entrance of the valley.
