Basque country, the same as other autonomous Spanish (as Andalusia and Catalonia) communities, he/she didn't want to adopt a historical shield and they have elaborated another shield according to the political events.The traditional shield would be the union of the shields of the three Basque counties (historical territories).But at the moment there is a fourth part, in red. It is it due to the pretenses that he/she had the Community Autonomous Basque on Navarrese where the fourth part had the chains of gold on red bottom. At the request of the autonomous government of Navarrese, the Constitutional Tribunal ordered its retreat, and now a red bottom only appears.Therefore the current shield of Basque country this formed by four barracks, three of them corresponding to the three Basque counties and one red. But of the shields of the three counties, it is necessary to point out that those of Guipúzcoa and Biscay are not the traditional ones.

The ikurriña (or ikurrina that is pronounced in Basque the same as the previous one) is a flag created in 1894 by the siblings Luis and Sabino it Claws (the founder of Nationalist Basque Party), as symbol of Euskadi that initially identified with the territory of Biscay.As he/she explained Spider (for example, in 1895, for a character's bizkaitarra mouth in The flag Phoenician), the design of the flag it was based on that of the shield of Biscay: He/she has a red bottom, color of the dominion of Biscay and, according to Spider, color of the old bottom of the shield.
