The main activity of the island at the moment is located in the tourism. In the last years Fuerteventura has been endowed of big complex hotel and tourist areas that have given a remarkable impulse to the sector services.Other economic sectors that can make an appointment, although with a scarce development, they are the fishing, the cattle raising (goats) and the agriculture (cereals and vegetables). The climate is soft and the temperatures remain almost constant during the whole year (near the 20ºC of half temperature). The precipitations are scarce, being one of the driest islands in the Archipelago Canary. Due to their low altitude the island doesn't retain the masses of humid air, like it happens in other islands of the archipelago. The proximity of the area of discharges pressures of Azores also determines the climate in Fuerteventura. The dominant winds are of NE or of N.The climate in the Solid of Betancuria presents differences with regard to the rest of the island. Las Palmas of Great Canaria is a municipality canary belonging to the county of Las Palmas (Spain). It is located in the northeast of the island of Great Canaria. It is the capital of the island, of the county and also shared capital of the Autonomous Community of Canaries together with Santa Cruz from Tenerife. It is also the biggest city of Canaries with more number of inhabitants (the seventh of Spain).Santa Ana's Cathedral is considered one of the most important monuments in the archipelago. It began to be built in the year 1497 and he/she opened up to the cult in 1570. A great number of architects participated in the project, for what we find architectural several styles in its construction. | On 1390, current Candlemas was a solitary place and desértico that the shepherds guanches of the menceyato of Güimar frequented. One afternoon, two natural that drove their livestock, they saw as some goats they refused to pass when arriving to the mouth of the ravine, one was ahead of them thinking that there were people that wanted to steal them and he/she found, on a rock, the Santa Image.With this legend, it begins the fervor and adoration from the islanders to Candlemas' Virgin. Fervor that August fifteen become a monumental pilgrimage that conforms to from all the points of the island of Tenerife until arriving at Candlemas' Basilica, where he/she waits to the rosemaries, the Employer of Canaries. |
