Villamanrique riverside of Lacus Ligustinus, was always considered to be a natural border of the salt marshes of The Guadalquivir, principal door of the preserves of Loin of Gray mule and Doñana and antechamber of the Dew. Primitively his name been Mures and with that one terminology lasted during the diverse historical epochs: tartésica, Phoenicia, Iberian - turdetana, Roman and Arab. Of all these cultures stay important architectural traces in the grounds manriqueñas. Mures is today more next to the culture tartésica and seems to be related to the word “murena ”.
