In the beginning it was a Roman town and later Arab farmhouse. In the distribution of Seville it went given to the Order of Santiago in the person of his master Don Pelay Thong, in 1253. In 1831 it stopped being a head of the Order of Santiago.

The complex of the Wine vaults Góngora - named also Broke Treasury Department of Iron - assembles out-standing values of historical and ethnological character.
Arisen possibly at the end of the XVIth century, there have constituted for centuries one of the principal wine modality of Villanueva of the Ariscal, locality with tradition liquor dealer in one area, the Sevillian Aljarafe, with important history in this one manages. Inside a population whose town planning is marked for the traces of many other facilities that have lost the use, the Wine vaults Góngora have supported his activity without solution of continuity and survive today in full functioning.
The technical evolution and the growth that in last four centuries were coming to the complex have left his stamp in him, allowing to obtain in the same space the singular one and representative sample of the cultural dynamics and of the different ones production systems, it doing a place where, thanks to conservation of the utillaje, of the magnificent press of beam, of real estate and of the continuity of the uses, easily it is possible to practise the finished one and diacrónica reading of the processes of making and storage of the wine.
At present, under the denomination of Wine vaults Góngora, there agglutinates a series of contiguous property units, result of a process of annexation of properties, which comprise constructions of production, of storage and of residential character.
The primitive installation was comprising housing, press and place of storage or wine vault. The housing, of two plants, occupies part of the current plot 005, developing in two corridors: the parallel one to the street the Holiest Christ de la Vera Cruz and perpendicular other one to she. In the intersection of both corridors there was located the stairs that was communicating both plants, ending in the top level in one gallery for which the stays would be opened. These corridors were defining two fronts of the domestic courtyard; the third one would close the wall of the wine vault and the last one was remaining opened to the plot. Diverse ups and downs segregated the housing, getting up a wall that divides it corridor of front and the courtyard, in addition to constructing him a new wing.
