Els primers pobladors of the barri foren immigrants that treballaven in the ram of the construcció i that is construïren the house durant els dies festius; per aix ò they primeres construccions of the barri són cassettes d'una or dues stoppages, if bé posteriorment s'hi there are construït també apartments pads. Actualment the barri tea uns 8 000 h, majoritàriament d'origen andalús or extremeny. Give of fa anys, in an esplanada placed to the costat of Bonavista, the diumenge celebrates a mercat ambulant molt concurregut, that there is esdevingut fins i tot a tourist atracció.


S'hi troba l'Escola Joan XXIII, centers educatiu privat, promogut per l'Arquebisbat of Tarragona i gestionat pels Germans Maristes.
