At first it was named Montefuerte and for contraction of the word finished in Monforte, from 1916 it is already known like Monforte de Moyuela.

Monforte was located originally along with the castle, moving later to the plain. It had, from the beginnings of Reconquest, a big strategic importance: the point was of a contact between the depression of the Ebro and the Iberian mountainous ranges, in extremadura Aragonese.

Monforte appears like one of the most ancient documentary mentions of the region, since it was repopulated in 1157, year in which Ramón Berenguer IV takes it giving him Letter of Population, with the jurisdictions of Saragossa and fixing the local terms. During a brief period of time was a head of a Community of Villages, continuation integrated to into Sesma de Trassierra, one of the six in which it was dividing the Community of Daroca.
The locality is included in the Route of the Brave man, created in 1999 for diverse county councils to commemorate the ninth one centenary of the death of the Brave man Warrior, since one is Monforte of the Towns where this personage happened.

The neighbors of the locality turolense of Monforte de Moyuela celebrate that of August the arrival of the Brave man to Monforte, derivation of his original place name: "Monte Fuerte".
To celebrate it, his inhabitants will recover the ways of dressing medieval and shot demonstrations will be realized with arch, fencing, and other activities, between which the reading will not be missing of Singing of mine Brave man in the castle of Monte Fuerte.
