Monroyo is a municipality of Spain, in the province of Teruel, Autonomous region of Aragon, of the region of Matarraña. One has 79,20 km area ² with a population of 307 inhabitants and a thickness of 4,09 hab/km ². In this locality one speaks a dialectal variety Aragonese about the Catalan.
It is a question of the locality of the Matarraña placed to major altitude, more of 850 meters, under the rock called The Mola, excellent lookout naturally. Of four accesses with which the desparecida was provided wall only is preserved by the Portal of Santo Domingo, restored it does a few years.
Porticada emphasizes the Biggest Square, the monumental Town hall with his market and some stately houses. Walking along his streets we will cross several arches or portals.
In the highest of the downtown, in a rocky mass and emblematic Tower of the Clock, remains of the emplacement preserve along with it of the ancient castle; the area offers magnificent conference of mountain ranges of Els Ports of Beseit and of Els Ports of Morella
The religious buildings are the Parochial Church of Ntra. Mrs. of the Asunción (XVIth century) and the Chapel of the Consolation (XVIIIth century).
In Monroyo it is possible to enjoy a good ham of Teruel, one excellent olive oil and an authentic gastronomic delight: her Black truffle.
On January 17 San Anthony is celebrated, with the typical bonfires and the sausage "rostida". Saint Águeda is commemorated on the 5th of in February. On Monday of Easter a pilgrimage is realized to the chapel of Consolation. On July 10 St Kitts is celebrated, drinking "calmant". From August 13 until August 19 the biggest holidays take place in honor to Our Lady of the Asunción and San Roque. During the first end of week of November celebrates the "Fair of craft and food of the Mastership". (ftes and text to see links)
