PLOU is a municipality of the mining basins of the province of Teruel placed to 104 Km to the North of his capital, for the highways N-420 and C-222.
The city center rises on a hillock, of which church of the Santa Cruz stands out . It is a question of a baroque temple of the century XVIII, with a good tower of two bodies. His front, simple and elegant, turns out to be reached by a divided pediment that two flank óculos. It lost his art furniture during the Civil war, therefore today his interior decorates with stucco and diverse works of scarce importance compared with the missing persons. Along with the church we will find the ruins of the previous temple, of the XVIth century. Since it has being habitual, there survive two reduced arches that open the ancient market.
Three still survive peirones in foot, but the memory is had of the existence of other three more:
Peirón of SAN RAMÓN
Peirón of SAN GREGORIO
Peirón of SAN ROQUE.
Plou is provided with some archaeological interest deposits. Of San Jorge is a town placed on a small hill, called Peak of San Jorge, where several rooms have been excavated (dated possibly between the VIII - VIIth century B.C.) that show only one cultural moment in the first Iron Age. As he can read in the Provincial Museum of Teruel, «his ceramics have resemblance with what Manluquer names "neck ceramics cylindrical"». Grooved, jerky ceramics were and excisas.
