The term "alcaudete" is probable that it causes of the Arab "alcalat", that it means "the castle", recounted to the Arab tower that served of base to the Christian repopulation towards the XIIIth century. In a document of the beginning of the XIVth century one speaks indiscriminately about "Alcaudete" and about "Alcardete", referring to the same village.
