Borox was founded by the Arabs between VIIIth and IXth centuries. They erected the distinguished Mahul castle. In 1179 Alfonso VIII granted half of the town to his butler Rodrigo Rodríguez; another half of the town of Borox and Mocejón donated his that one the same year to the Order of Calatrava. In 1191, Domingo Gutiérrez, successor in the butler's charge of the king, granted the goods that it was possessing in Borox and Mocejón to the above mentioned Order, this one managing to impose his power in the whole term. Borox remained under the power calatravo and integrated inside the Otos charge until 1378, in which it separated of the same one. Before this fact, the Council of Borox town had already showed his desires to escape from the tutelage of the Order it passed some; It did not achieve the entire independence since Aranjuez segregated also of Otos in 1536, fought to preserve his rights in the appointment of the justice, and Carlos V, in 1526, it urged to the Council of Borox him to respect the preeminences that the Otos commander was still possessing in the town.
