The place name Carriches is of Mozarabic origin and there could originate "reedbed", "giant reeds". Sometimes written "Carriche" appears or "Carruche". In this case it would refer to the wooden gadget used for extracting ground of the wells, which gives itself popularly these two names. This meaning would be confirmed bearing in mind that a relation of the XVIth century says that the Town lacks source and they drink only water of the wells. To length of the XVIth century we meet a small local community for the most part farmhand, the poor Town who works his pergujar. In reign of Fernando VI does town to itself with high and low jurisdiction, civil and criminal, by virtue of the granted privilege, in 1749, for monarch. (Fte.-Texto Delegation) |
