The place name "Bayuela" can originate in "bayal" or "flax field", of the "cultivation of the linen". His name been the first "Castil of Bayuela"; then, in surer epoch, the neighbors moved to a well-known less rural and high place like "The Hayricks". Reconquered this country, it is repopulated by old Castilians. Enrique III granted the town title, in 1393, to the place of Castle of Bayuela. The primitive factory of the castle is Roman, on that later Arab they raised the constructions and it christens. In the second half of the XVIth century track does not stay important of the unassailable fortitude. The tower of the homage preserved and next to you a church was getting up, in the XVth century, later chapel devoted to Our Lady of the Concepcion; there was counterfoil of the jurisdiction of the town. Made independent The Castle of Bayuela of the city of Avila, on having obtained the villazgo privilege, goes on to the dominion of the condestable Ruy López Dávalos, later to Don Álvaro de Luna, to his wife the countess of Montalbán, to Mrs Maria of Moon, and finally, to Mendoza, made Marquesses of Montesclaros and of Castil de Bayuela in 1530, being the first Marquess gift Rodrigo de Mendoza and Moon, gentleman of Santiago; and in 1554 don Juan of Mendoza and Moon, the second Marquess of this title.
