The place name "Cazalegas" could derive of the Celtic voice "caçaliecas". On the other hand the root "caça" means "big bowl"; in 1156 it appears with the name of "Faztalegas". To the beginning of the XVIth century "Caçalegar" and "Caçalegal" is read.

The origin of the Town is not known. It is said that Cazalegas has his origin in the ancient "Cazalia", Roman city. Region of the Fork belongs to . The municipality is governed by a Mayor, two Chief magistrates, general Attorney, Butler of the Council and Deputy; the Chief magistrate of Talavera approves the election. The informers believe that it is a very ancient place, two towers survive, the high one of brick and stone with lime mortar, and smaller other one in houses of the Order of Calatrava; in the smallest a weathercock exists of the year 700. These towers it is supposed be that of the church and other one more, that they still exist, surviving also remains of an ancient one palace.
