The name of "The Roadway" originates from the route military or Roman wearing shoes that was crossing the place, where the town got up , in the step of Emeritus August to Toletum. It is presumed that there was a Roman foundation as a result of the step of the Roman roadway that was joining the cities of Emeritus August (Merida) and Toletum (Toledo), having uncovered a necropolis tardorromana along with the Lagoon of the Limes...
With the Carrascalejo annexation, the term of The Roadway rounded with 14504 ht and 75 areas, the biggest of old Señorío, after Oropesa. Pedro de Soto (native of Domingo Pérez) was who measured and did the share-out of grounds of the exempted places of County of Oropesa. Due to the heyday of The Roadway, it disappeared Carrascalejo later, staying of this place, the source of stone in what it would be his principal square, calling him the place in actuality, "Holm oak". |
