The name of The Guard can have his origin in the term "Running aground", city of the Carpetania. Also it can originate in the Gothic "Wardja", that being like "lookout", "watchtower", "lookout". Arabizándose gave "Warda". This town and his outlines are present from the epoch of prehistory, occupied uninterruptedly up to the conquest of Roman. His importance takes root in his special key situation of way of Andalusia. He attends also of visigoths and Muslims in this natural fortitude. San Ildefonso preached in her the Gospel, and during the Arab domination the big one received this village strategic importance. By order of Alfonso VI, and shortly after the Reconquest of Toledo, it was this town taken the Gentlemen of Saint John, to whose Order belonged. Later, in 1212 his children differed in the battle of The Plain mountains of Toulouse, deserving for it the distinction of his weapon of blue embroidery with eight sails of gold, as well as the title of the very Loyal one, granted by Alfonso VIII. Previously in the year 1210, it was granted by Alfonso VIII to the crown prince don Fernando.
