The term Mascaraque could be diminutive caused in the Arabic voice "masj", which it means "change of the being humanly in animal and hence mask".

It had to exist already in the Moslem epoch, researching in the year 1150 in a donation of Alfonso VII, like a village in the region of Sisla, with the name of "Town Antigua of Maskarake". The first one nucleus should have been this town, later he gives in like also Town Siloes, increasing Mascaraque. This name is already quoted in 1212 in a contract of sale. Already in the XIVth century the castle raises in the same hamlet. The place should be had repopulated for toledanos. From his reconquest Pedro López was a village of Toledo, although his castle looks like a property of the Frying pan toledanos, Frying pan and his son. In 1630 town is done freeing itself of Toledo. At the end of the XVIIIth the strong house of the Frying pan had already happened to the dukes of Abrantes and counts of Improved. (Fte.-Texto Delegation to see link)
