The name of this place is a compound of Arab voices that it means "press or mill of Amrus"; "place not distant". It is possible that the Amrus, proprietor of this press or mill, is the fierce governing Moor of Toledo of the IXth century. It was an ancient Roman city called "Menterosa" that belonged to the province Tarraconense, in the country of the carpetanos. Spent Arab epoch, and reconquered the territory to defend his east Christian population, made the tower watchtower or lookout known to itself for The Castle, already at the end of the XIVth century. Our Town was part to the Brotherhood of St Martin of Montilla. The city of Toledo has in the place of Mazarambroz a series of privileges, which go away confirming from 1259 for Alfonso XI and his successors, included Reyes Católicos.
