It is named a Port of the King because one monarch of Castile probably, Alfonso XI (1312-50), big benefactor of the Monastery of Santa Maria of Guadeloupe, ordered to level the place - where it begins declining the Altamira saw - for facilitating the step of the real covey, way of the above-mentioned one Monastery.
