The word "thumb" stems from the Latin American "Pollicaris", being able to mean "place where there are fleas" or "the part of vine shoot that with two or three egg yolks is left in the vines to or to prune them so that in them shoots sprout". In the first third of the XIIth century the Christians fought in Thumb against the Almoravid ones. In this century it was a farmhouse placed in the Sisla of Toledo. In a document of 1214 one speaks about "Hamlet of Thumb", supposing so our population could originate in a hamlet (Roman town). Fernando III receives, by means of exchange, from the Archbishop of Toledo in 1243, between others, Thumb in exchange for Baeza and Añover. The Town happens this way of being a dominion place ecclesiastically to realengo, although not in a lot of time; since in 1246 King Santo was selling to the city of Toledo the Mounts, with what this Town is going to cover the same luck as other populations of the Mounts. Since then it will be submitted to the dominion of Toledo and for his town hall governed across the judge of The Mounts. use of the grasslands in The Mounts and the quackery, they gave motive to numerous suits between the Towns of the dominion toledano; in 1452 they were between Raven and Thumb, and in 1532 with The Sales; between others.
