The Saint's name Olalla comes of "Saint Eulalia", both names are the same. They correspond to a virgin and martyr emeritense, to that cult yields. Possibly already it was calling the village like that in the epoch visigoda, in honor of mentioned virgin. Busy Toledo for Alfonso VI, they were falling down in power of the monarch, between others populations, this one of Santa Eulalia. Again she is nominated a Saint Olalla in 1095, to give him to the monastery of San Servando a few properties in the town. Alfonso VII, in 1124, gives to the Saint's neighbors Olalla the jurisdiction of Toledo. In 1151 the town had the privilege of cuertilla. In Mozarabic documents one speaks about a way that happens for the castle of Santa Eulalia close to Rielves, what indicates that the dedication to the Saint of Merida was frequent between the community Mozarabic. In 1201 Santa Eulalia is quoted again in a donation of Alfonso VIII. In 1498 the Talavera terms are defined and Saint Olalla. (Fte.-Texto Delegation to see link) |
