The place name "Seseña" stems, according to Menéndez Pidal, of the antropónimo of Etruscan origin "Sissus, Sisius, Sisenna", that the "nn" has lost, giving "ñ". This one ground, for his proximity to an irrigation area, is present from early times, in the historical chore of our province. In the XIIth century Alfonso VIII gives to the bishop Alderico, of the cathedral of Sigüenza, an estate close to the Jarama and the Tagus, which later the king changes with the bishop into a mill into Berlanga. The same one sovereign did authorizations on the salt works of The Espartinas. There was town of the dominion of the infante don Felipe, understood in the state of Aniseed liquor. The town is repopulated in the middle of the XVth century, during the reign of Juan II, who to support it does thanks to his neighbors of half of the term of The Espartinas; donation that then his successor Enrique IV. confirms (Fte.-Texto Diputacion to see link) Nuclei of Seseña: New Seseña, Urban development Big Vale, Her Station |
