Small municipality of dispersed character and eminently rural, his closeness awards a tie to the sea important with this one, although the central nucleus finds something remote since the orography of the coast with steep cliffs does not allow a massive poblamiento in his outskirts. Basically divided in two nuclei, Elexalde and their Goierri, the first one is administrative center, while Goierri, more isolated, concentrates major rural population.

Beach of Barrika, in strict sense, faced to the Northwest, much little protected from the open sea, and with difficult access given the height of the cliff in that one area. Nevertheless, one has constructed herself stairs that perfectly adapted to the characteristics of area, not only facilitate the access, but there constitute, if the same, an important attraction point. The sand of the beach, which quantity fluctuates year by year, according to the storms and the currents domineering, is high quality, being provided with a few conditions environmental very little degraded.
