Five municipalities that form this one environment, it is the only one placed on the coast. It delimits with Amoroto, Berriatua, Ispaster and Lekeitio. Nevertheless, the city center places inside, on a hill removed from the coast. His place is the same from the Middle Age.

It is formed by four quarters, Iturreta, Leagi, Likoa and Zelaia, placed so much on the coast as on a hill; for a surface 6,69 km whole ²
Mendexa is a slightly inhabited municipality. Anyhow, in agreement with the last censuses, the number of inhabitants of Mendexa there is increased slightly during the last years. In fact, some Lekeitio inhabitants have found in Mendexa the house for that they were looking, due to the scarcity and the scarcity of housings in his municipality.

Although it is placed on a hanging area, Mendexa is a place formidably to walk. The conference are excellent: the sea and her mountain they melt in this scenery. Also there finds here it the only beach of Lea Ibarra, the beach of Karraspio.
