Town of early foundation (XIIIth century), for his geographical situation, like step between the Plateau and the Cantabrico, had a notable strategic interest on having consolidated the route that to turn of the port of Urkiola lowers up to the corridor of Ibaizabal.
His urban structure is constituted by one main street that Santa Marina extends from the church up to the square of Endikona, where probably it would be either placed missing person Torre de Andikona. In this "callecamino" they can find some medieval pervivencias, like the cantons covered that join the main street with the minor.
Artekale extends towards the North for Urigoyena and towards the South for Uribarrena. Parallel to this street principal the street butcher's shop and Udeletxe are located.
There is no steadfastness of the existence of wall in the town although it is possibly that his main street was closed by doors in both ends. (to see Order of September 9, 1994, of the Adviser of Culture)
