Along the history, the name of municipality has been already evolving from Sancti Georgi in 1075, Santurce during the Middle Age, throughout the XVIIIth, XIXth centuries and until 1983 in which officially it is named Santurtzi.

Santurtzi is a very ancient Town that appears for the first time in the documents in the year 1075. There were distributed in districts of hamlets which inhabitants were devoting themselves to the cultivation of his orchards and vineyards, to the baby of his cattle, to the extraction and transport of iron ore of the mounts of Triano up to the ports and foundries, and the inhabitants of the coastal quarters to the fishing and cabotage works.
