Balmonte, The Ironworks of Cabanada asturias town.The Ironworks of Cabanada, (in the Parish of Balmonte, it was built the 1860 and it worked until the last years of the XIX century.
The ironworks is in a wide and flat vega of the river Porcia, in which the bends that it traces the fluvial course allowed to shorten the longitude of the channel of water that it supplied to the Ironworks.
At the present time the prey of the river has disappeared, although the walls and great part of the channel are conserved.
To carry out this route we leave Castropol for N-640 until arriving to Vegadeo. We continue for the ACE-22 in address Boal. To the height of the town of Samagán, we turn to the right for CP-4, in Address to the towns of Añides, Balmonte and Penzol. Few meters after passing the village of Penzol, we catch the highway that comes out for the left to Balmonte. To some few meters we see to the right a stone cabin, in the Field of Couselo; here we begin the route on foot for a track that comes out exactly behind the cabin.

Two years later we begin the construction of our cheese dairy (small cheese dairy artisan) and in the year 1993 you the elaboration of CHEESE begins OF I BEACHED, a cheese of pressed pasta of pasteurized milk of goat.
Little by little it is introduced in the market, being centered our efforts in making a product of the maximum quality.
Our Cheese already consolidated, and being dedicated 75% from the production to the export (OR.S.A.), in the year 2002 begin the elaboration of 2 new types of cheese:
* A cheese of pressed pasta elaborated with raw milk of goat.
* An ecological cheese of pressed pasta elaborated with cow milk, being the first elaborating of ecological cheese in Asturias.
S.To.T. CHEESE OF I BEACHED, it is a family company in which we work in these moments 5 people.

The parish with the biggest population density is San Martin of LodĂłn with square 32,61 inhabitants / kilometer, continued by Belmonte and the fewer populated it is Caves, with only square 3,10 inhabitants / kilometer. Besides population's nucleuses they appear disseminated to the long and wide of the town council numerous "country houses" composed by a maximum of three family housings.
The population's evolution, the same as in the rest of the town councils of Asturian mountain, it is negative, having passed from the 7121 inhabitants of century principles to the 2456 of the last population census.
