The origin of the name comes his Arab place name To - baldah that means “la relay ”, although also it means " fresh air".

The locality was part, together with Ambel, of one of the charges you would moderate. From 1312 it went on to the order of Saint John, to which it belonged for 600 years. Of this period the church survives parochial of Our Lady of the Asunción, built in the century XIV. It presents Mudejar style on the outside and Gothic decoration in his interior, where he emphasizes the biggest Renaissance reredos.

The remains of the Castle are included in the Catalog of Aragonese cultural heritage of real estate of Mudejar style.

In the surroundings we find archaeological deposits, like of the mount Quez, with human burials, or a deposit hallstático, dated in año1.000 B.C.
