Ariza is a Spanish population of the province of Saragossa in the community of Aragon. It is placed in the bucketful of Almazán-Ariza constituted by deposits miocenos ready horizontally, in one scenery that is an extension of the Castilian; in fact, to few kilometers on the west it finishes Aragon, for what Ariza, to 763 meters of altitude in the left shore of the Landmark, is the town door of Castile, that it was a lot of time in litigation between Castilians and Aragonese.
The origins of the locality go back to Neolithic epoch, being also finds of the Age of Bronze, of Iron and remains of Iberian and Roman. The above mentioned are the most important, being able to appreciate some towns ruins altoimperiales in in winch of the Roman roadway unfortunately conceals them down bushes.
The place name comes from the Roman “Hariza ”, that it means “Poseída ”, being an arabization of the term in Latin.
In the highest part of the nucleus the ancient castle was getting up Arab, imposing construction considered to be one of the most important at the beginning of the XVth century for his dimensions and his exceptional one strategic situation between the kingdoms of Aragon and Castile. At present only some remains of his amurallamiento survive.
In the locality very interesting buildings exist, but he emphasizes, how there is natural, that of the church of Santa Maria, of the XVIth century, which possesses an interesting reredos and image of Christ of the Agony.
On May 19 the pilgrimage is celebrated to the chapel of the Virgin of I protect, and on September 14 the management holidays take place in honor of the Santa Cruz and Christ of the Agony
