Along the history, the locality there is been stage of multiple clashes between the armies of the Castilian and Aragonese kingdoms. Until Pedro IV was ordering to abandon the area and her to fortify for the area of the Church and her area that gives to the river Manubles.
A complicated one presents town-planning framework formed by buildings that reflect faithfully the proper typology of the area, large houses of two or three heights and white fronts enfoscadas.
The Castle:
It was a fortitude strategically very important for his situation frontier with Castile, situation for which it had to be fortified in numerous occasions; next to you there was finding it church as part of the defense. News have of big works realized by Pedro IV in 1357, when it ordered to depopulate place and to fortify the church and the castle. In spite of these works of fortification, it was one of the first castles conquered for Peter I Cruel in the invasion of 1358, leaving it under the governorship of his believer captain Gómez de Carrillo, whom it ordered to execute little later under treachery suspicion
Church dedicated to San Miguel and to the Virgin:
it is a building deeply modified in the XVIIth. But in spite of it, it preserves clear touches of his late Romanesque origin.
His ship reaches 24 x 9 meters and it is faced to the east and finished off by semicircular apse, of which it reduces his ornament vertically and departs from what must have been a south side of the presbytery with a ventanita of half a point (Image 1). In the rest of the south wall, also traces of the original thing stay. In particular a pair of large windows of half a point dovelados with a resunken archivolt and decorated with capitals of simple decoration and columnillas (Images 1, 4 and 5). Also dust cover framing the half point.
The river Manubles offers us beautiful natural spectacles as it is Well of the Puddles, where his waters do some impressive jumps. Close the river bed is crossed by an attractive slow bridge medieval constructed in the XVth century, creating the nice and picturesque one rural picture. It is completed by the curious source of the 28 Pipes.
Holidays: During the 15th and 16th of August, the holidays are celebrated in honor of San Roque, and of the Virgin of the Castle. (ftes. and text to see links)
