Castiliscar is a historical locality of the Aragonese region of Five Towns. His origin is tied to the reconquest of this one territory in the XIth and XIIth centuries on the part of the first kings of Aragon. It was a place of border, a link in the defensive chain that was separating the mountain of Sos and Uncastillo opposite to the plain of others three historical towns: Sádaba, Ejea of the Gentlemen and Tauste.
His strategic situation opposite to the Moslem domain was already appreciated in previous epochs by the Romans, leaving numerous witnesses in the area that they testify his presence. The Roman route that was connecting them current territories of Aragon and Navarre was the origin of these archaeological remains.
All this has generated an interesting city center formed by one irregular structure of narrow streets and with light slope in those who put out architectures of eminent popular character with fronts for the most part whitewashed.
