Uncastillo assembles one of the richest monumental sets of quite Aragon. Declared Historical Set Artistic in 1966, the fortitude that names him the Town is today, only one more motive of the valuable set.

his municipal term borders for the north on those of Sos of the King Catholic, Petilla de Aragón (an enclave of Navarre inside Aragon), Isuerre and Lobera de Onsella; for the East with Luesia and Biota; for the south with Biota, Sádaba and Layana; and for the west with Sádaba, Castiliscar and Sos of King Católico.

Cultural Historical set from 1966

Most of his term belongs to the basin of the river Riguel, tributary of the river Arba de Luesia, across diverse ravines, between those who emphasize the Ravine of the Ells, the Ravine of Petilla or the Ravine of Baztanes: nevertheless, a small portion to the northeast of the term (in the area of the castle of Sibirana) ends straight in the river Arba de Luesia, as one part of this one of his term, emphasizing especially the Ravine of Olid.

The uncastilleros, the happy and hospitable Town, celebrate his Management holidays concerning September 8 in honor of Virgin of St Kitts, with a program of acts that includes sit-ins of heifers, verbenas, giant and bigheaded, brass bands, fireworks... Last Sunday of May pilgrimage takes place to the chapel of Bathe them. Other traditions that survive are the bonfires in every eve of San Sebastian and San Blas (19 of on January and February 2), the ancient and popular Mass of Rooster and them Dawns in October. ORDER of September 3, 2003, of the Department of Education, Culture and Sport, for completes the original declaration of Good of Cultural Interest of so called «Church of Santa Maria the Biggest» in Uncastillo (Saragossa), in accordance with the First Transitory Disposition of the Law 3/1999, of March 10, of Aragonese Cultural heritage.

I ANNEX I DESCRIPTION OF THE GOOD

It is a question of a Romanesque church dedicated in 1155 for the bishop of Pamplona and extended in the XVth and XVIth centuries, which it was always an object of numerous real favors that confirm his importance.

His factory is of ashlar and it consists of the only ship of six stretches covered by vault of pointed cannon reinforced by arches fajones double. His apse, semicircular, presents an arquillos gallery peraltados and of half a point, in that the vain ones insert of lighting.

The most important element is undoubtedly the magnificent front southern. There consists of three archivolts decorated profusely with vegetable and geometric motives combined with figurative others of profane character, which there support in columns with capitals decorated with religious motives and shafts bullions or sets with entrelazos of basketry. Traditionally it has assumed to the Teacher of Uncastillo.

In the XVth century the southwestern angle finished in Gothic style the Romanesque tower placed in . Square plant and a defensive auction has with battlements and garitones that wraps a capital octogonal.

In the XVIth century they got up a vestry attached to the apse (eliminated in 1970, although his access still survives from the temple), one wide cloister with funeral chapels decorated with elements Renaissance, as the door of entry to the same one, and the choir highly to the feet. Also, it transformed the western front re-making use of a Romanesque eardrum with representation of Epiphany.

Finally, in the XVIIIth century there was added the Chapel of the Saint Christ.

His conservation state is good in general.
